Pocono NASCAR Practice #1 Notes

NOTE: Practice was shortened 25 minutes because of “track weepers.”

Paul Menard – Has a new crew chief this week. Only focused on qualifying trim this session. Very good in that setup and ended the session at the top of the speed chart.

Kevin Harvick – His crew chief Rodney Childers is suspended this week. His race engineer will be serving as his crew chief. Harvick reported he had a bad brake vibration and his peddle went to the floor in race trim. In qualifying trim he jumped to the top of the speed chart around the midpoint.

Denny Hamlin – Spent a lot of time in race trim to get a good baseline setup. Said he was the best he’s been in race trim in a long time.

Kurt Busch – “Good in 1. Pretty good in 2, a fuzz tight in 3.” He was in qualifying trim at the time of those comments and he was #1 on the speed chart. Appears he was in qualifying trim the entire session.

Austin Dillon – Likes his car. Said it’s way better than last time. Said he’s using similar stuff to what he used at Indy. Said he can drive a lot harder.
