Bristol NASCAR Practice #1 Notes
NOTE: It appears the bottom groove at Bristol is back. It was clearly the faster way around the track. It does appear that the top groove might come into play at some point though.
Jeff Gordon – Following his first run his crew chief said, “Nice job there, that’s P3 on the board.” Reported his car was loose in the rear and wants to come around. During his second run he said a set of changes helped his corner entry. 35 minutes into practice he said the grip level on the track went way up. “That really helped the entry but now I’m really tight.” During a run about 45 minutes into practice he said his car got better but they still had a few things to work on.
Aric Almirola – Early in practice he reported he was loose in, and tight on landing in the corners. During a later run he said he was much tighter and snappy loose on exit. During a run about 45 minutes into practice he said he was loose in and tight in the center. He was 5th at the speed chart at the time. At the end he said the corners were feeling choppy. His car had pretty good speed this session.
Austin Dillon – His team thought he maintained a really good pace throughout the session.
Paul Menard – Said his car needs to be tightened up a little bit. 35 minutes into practice he said, “Just needs a little bit of drive off is all.” Said it was a good session for the team at the end.
