Michigan Pre-race Notes
This was the first race that the “Lowest Down Force Package” was used. On Sunday that package will be used again.
David Ragan started in the rear of the field in a backup car.
Michigan Race Notes
Joey Logano started on the pole and selected the top lane. He washed up in turn 1 and fell back 4 positions during the first lap.
Martin Truex Jr. started on the front row in the inside lane and led the first 10 laps.
Chris Buescher ran well early and was in 16th on lap 7.

Carl Edwards really loved the low down force package.
During the first round of pit stops Brad Keselowski was the last driver to pit and as a result he led 7 laps.
On lap 46 while leading Brad Keselowski sputtered when he was low on gas.
Notable moment: On lap 46 Martin Truex Jr. spun while running in 2nd. This was a big break for Brad Keselowski. Truex was racing side by side with a lapped Clint Bowyer. Truex Jr. got some hood damage from when air went under it.

Big Moment: On lap 51 Casey Mears slowed on the track and then took his car to the garage.
Big Moment: On lap 53 Kyle Busch’s engine blew up. He was running around 10th when it happened.
Big Moment: On lap 62 Dale Earnhardt Jr. got into the wall. Allmendinger also got damage. They were battling with Chris Buescher for 19th. Both Earnhardt Jr. and Allmendinger took their cars to the garage.

Tony Stewart was pretty happy with his car. On lap 75 he was running in 3rd.

Ryan Newman liked his car. During pit stops on lap 97 it was mentioned that his car was consistent.
Notable Moment: On lap 102 during a pit cycle Jeffrey Earnhardt got into the wall and brought out the caution. Ten cars during this pit cycle didn’t pit before the caution came out.
