Fantasy NASCAR Asterisk Mark Report – New Hampshire
Every week in NASCAR there’s drivers who have problems in the race and walk away with an asterisk mark finish. Understanding misleading results and knowing how good drivers truly were can help give you the edge on your competition. Many fantasy racers just look at results and assume that’s how good drivers were. This post explains who had a misleading result earlier this year at New Hampshire, and how good they truly were.
Martin Truex Jr. – Martin Truex Jr. had a great car in July at New Hampshire. In our exclusive PROS Rankings we have him ranked #1. If you just look at his result you’ll see a big ugly 16th right next to his name. That is a very misleading result. In the race he led 123 laps and if he didn’t break his shifter it looked like he would win. Shortly after Matt Kenseth passed him for the lead he radioed in his problem.
Greg Biffle – Some drivers finish well which creates an asterisk mark result. This July at New Hampshire Greg Biffle was about 20th place good but through pit strategy and attrition he slipped into a 5th place finish. Last fall he finished an asterisk mark 4th.
Kyle Busch – Kyle Busch had a great car this July at New Hampshire. Strength wise he had the 3rd best car. In the race he earned the best driver rating and led a race high 133 laps. When the checkered flag waved he finished 8th. That is a misleading result. If it wasn’t for the late restarts which shuffled him back he was a lock for a top five finish.
