Homestead NASCAR Practice #2 Notes

Jimmie Johnson – Very fast at the start of a run. Jumped to the top of the speed chart early. Wasn’t as good as some of the championship contenders late in a run. 20 minutes into practice Chad Knaus was happy with his lap times. Knaus said, “Solid lap. Solid lap again!”

Joey Logano – Worked on running different lines. He was at his best running the top line. Had good speed.

Carl Edwards – Has a fast car. Had good long run speed. Had the best 5 lap average.

Aric Almirola – His car drove well early and was a little bit tight. During a later run he didn’t have the rear grip he needed. Halfway through the session he said, “Much, much better.” His exit was significantly improved. 40 minutes into practice he was reportedly running both the top and the bottom well.

Austin Dillon – Worked on running the high-line. Ended the session a few minutes early and said, “Good job guys.”
