DraftKings Scoring Trends – Daytona
Understanding DraftKings NASCAR scoring trends can be very helpful. Each track is different, and different compositions of teams can score big. This post gives you helpful scoring notes that can be learned from a race and tells you what type of “scorer” the top drivers were.
Here’s a breakdown of the terminology you’ll see below:
Elite Dominator – A driver who scores a very large notable amount of “Dominator” points
Super Dominator – A driver who scores a large amount of “Dominator” points.
Dominator – A driver who scores a notable amount of “Dominator” points.
Mover – A driver who moves forward a good amount of positions that really boosts their scores.
Good Finish – A driver who finishes near the front of the field.

Some overall scoring trends/ lessons learned you should take into account:
- The ideal driver who you should be looking for is a \”Mover\” who can come home with a good finish. Over the last four Daytona races the average starting position of a top ten scorer was 22.7.
- You do not need to spend all of your money. \”Lesser\” drivers can have a very high playability level on this track type.
- If you pick a driver who starts near the front you really need to feel confident that they\’ll have a high level of dominator potential.
- You don\’t want to pick too many drivers who start near the front.
2016 Daytona Summer Scoring Notes
- Brad Keselowski was an Super Dominator and scored the most points. He was the only driver in \”typically competitive equipment\” who ranked in the top 6 in terms of points accumulated.
- 3 of the top 6 scores could be considered \”Super Cheap\” drivers (It\’s more than OK if you don\’t spend all of your $50,000)
- 3 of the top 4 scorers started 31st or worse.
- 4 of the top 6 scorers started 31st or worse.
- The average starting position of the top 11 scorers was 21.45.
- 6 of the top 10 scorers could be considered \”Movers.\”
2016 Daytona 500 Scoring Notes
- Denny Hamlin was a Super Dominator who scored the most points.
- 5 of the top 6 scorers started 27th or worse.
- Only 4 of the top 11 scorers started 11th or better.
- The top 7 scorers all moved up at least 10 positions from where they started.
- The average starting position of the top 11 scorers was 28.2. The average starting position for the top ten drivers was 22.1.
- The top ten scorers all finished in the top 15.
Daytona Summer 2015 Scoring Notes
- Dale Earnhardt Jr. who led 96 laps and raced his way to victory lane only managed to score the 3rd most points. He started on the pole so he wasn\’t able to accumulate any \”Mover\” points.
- Dale Earnhardt Jr. was the only driver who started in the top 10 who finished among the top 12 scorers.
- The top two scorers started 34th and 35th.
- Of the top 16 scoring drivers only two of them started in the top ten.
- The average starting position of the top 10 scorers was 21.8.
- The top 6 scorers all finished in the top 6.
2015 Daytona 500 Scoring Notes
- Joey Logano who won scored the 4th most points.
- The top 3 scorers all started 38th or worse.
- 7 of the top ten scorers started 26th or worse and could be described as \”Movers.\”
- The average starting position of the top ten scorers was 25.6
- The average finish position of the top ten scorers was 8.3. All of the top ten scorers finished in the top 15.
- Four of the top ten scorers could be described as \”Super Cheap\” options.
- Five of the top six scorers finished in the top 6.
