Auto Club – Fantasy NASCAR Low Tier
Chris Buescher – Chris Buescher has some sleeper potential at Auto Club Speedway. I’m not setting the bar too high, but I think he might be able to finish around the high-teens to low-twenties if things go well. Auto Club is a quasi skill track and he’s driving in equipment that has had success here in the past. Last year at Auto Club Speedway teammate Allmendinger had a great car, he started in the rear of the field and raced his way up to an 8th place finish. At Auto Club Speedway Buescher has two starts under his belt. Last year he had a tough race and on lap 27 he had a flat tire while running in 17th and got into the wall. After that he never really ran well and it led to his 33rd place finish. In 2015 in a pre-rookie start he drove the #34 and had a good afternoon by their standards. When the race reached its conclusion he finished 20th, earned the 26th best driver rating and had a 27th place average running position. In the lower series at Auto Club Buescher has had some good runs having finished 5th (2015) and 14th (2014). This year at intermediate tracks he’s finished in the low twenties twice and has results of 23rd and 24th. (Yahoo B Driver)

Landon Cassill – Given his fantasy tier Landon Cassill has been a solid driver at Auto Club Speedway. Over the last three years he has a 22.0 average finish. In 2016 at Auto Club Speedway he had a career year here. In the event he finished 16th and had a 26th place average running position. In the two Auto Club results prior to that he had back to back results of 25th. This year at intermediate tracks Cassill has finishes of 22nd and 27th. (Yahoo C Driver)
Michael McDowell – Auto Club Speedway has been a tough track for Michael McDowell. He has a 39.3 average finish and only has one result in his seven races better than 38th. The good news is that last year he had his best result and finished 31st. It should be noted he was better than his finish and his average running position was 26th. If the late caution that brought out the Green-White-Checker didn’t occur he was poised to finish 27th. This year at intermediate tracks McDowell has results of 18th and 29th. (Yahoo C Driver)
David Ragan – Auto Club Speedway is a quasi “skill track” with the extreme level of tire wear and that will allow drivers like David Ragan to potentially be more competitive than normal. To safely estimate his fantasy value I would write him in for a mid-twenties finish. Recently at Auto Club Speedway he’s been an OK performer. Over the last four races he has a 22.8 average finish. Last year in the #23 which is a less competitive situation he finished 22nd and had a 26th place average running position. In 2015 when he drove the #18 car he finished 18th. This year at intermediate tracks Ragan has results of 23rd and 29th. The 23rd was at Atlanta where the level of tire wear is similar. (Yahoo C Driver)
