Martin Truex Jr. who started on the pole selected the low-line. He led the opening 24 laps.
Heading into turn 1 Joey Logano ducked behind Martin Truex Jr. and didn’t lose any positions despite starting in the outside line.
Big Moment: On lap 23 Ricky Stenhouse Jr. backed his car into the wall and got heavy damage. He then took his car to the garage. He wheel hopped into the corner.
At the time of the first caution not all the leaders pitted. A few notable front runners who did were leader Martin Truex Jr., AJ Allmendinger, Carl Edwards, Denny Hamlin and Kyle Busch.
Notable Moment: During the first round of pit stops Denny Hamlin and Carl Edwards were caught speeding on pit road.
During the first round of pit stops it was reported Kyle Busch and Martin Truex Jr. were both happy with their cars.

Brad Keselowski had a strong car.
Fresh tires are a big advantage here. On lap 45 Martin Truex Jr. re-passed Joey Logano for the lead. Truex Jr. pitted during the first round of pit stops which put him back to around 10th.

On lap 60 David Ragan’s car was smoking. It brought out a caution and he then came to pit road. He was running in 26th five laps earlier.
On lap 75 Kyle Larson passed Martin Truex Jr. for the lead. He then led the next 6 laps until Truex re-passed him.

Denny Hamlin had a strong car. Around lap 180 it was rotating really well through the center of the corners.
On lap 181 Matt Kenseth passed Truex Jr. for the lead. Kenseth then led the next 175 laps. His car was very strong.

Around lap 191 Jimmie Johnson got some front fender damage from contact with another car. He was holding up Hamlin and on lap 198 Hamlin bumped him and Johnson lost a few positions. A few laps later a caution came out so his team was able to work on his car which really dropped him in the running order. Trevor Bayne got the free pass at the time.

On lap 224 Denny Hamlin’s car was looking really good.
