Fantasy NASCAR Asterisk Mark Report – Charlotte
Denny Hamlin – Denny Hamlin had a great car last fall at Charlotte but finished a misleading 30th. That’s a very misleading result. In the race Hamlin led 52 and if his engine didn’t blow up with 26 laps to go while running in 2nd he was a lock for a top five.
Chase Elliott – Chase Elliott had a very strong car last fall at Charlotte that might’ve been the best. If there wasn’t a caution that came out during the pit cycle while he was leading which put him back in the pack and ultimately led to him wrecking, he might’ve been able to win. The wreck caused him to finish 33rd, but keep in mind he still earned the 2nd best driver rating and led 103 laps.
Kevin Harvick – Kevin Harvick had top five potential last fall but electrical problems on lap 156 while he was running in 4th doomed him and led to his 38th place finish. In 4 of the 5 Charlotte races prior to that he finished in the top two.
Joey Logano – Joey Logano was very competitive last fall but finished 36th. His down fall in the race was a flat tire during the middle of green flag pit stops. Just prior to the beginning of that pit cycle he was running in 4th. Later in the race while he was running in the mid-teens he had another flat and that was a knock out blow that led to his poor finish.
