Fantasy NASCAR Asterisk Mark Report – Dover
Every week in NASCAR there’s drivers who have problems in the race and walk away with an asterisk mark result. Understanding misleading finishes and knowing how good drivers truly were can help give you the edge on your competition. Many fantasy racers just look at results and assume that’s how good drivers were. This post explains who had a misleading result last fall at Dover, and how good they truly were.
Kevin Harvick – Kevin Harvick likely had a great car last fall at Dover but finished a misleading 37th. In the race on lap 34 while he was running in in the top five his track bar mount broke which sent him to the garage dooming him to a poor result. If he didn’t have problems I bet he would’ve been top five good. Make sure you check out our PROS Rankings Extended Edition to see how good we thought he was subjectively in the Dover races leading up to that event. He’s been pretty impressive here.
Jimmie Johnson – Jimmie Johnson had a stellar car at Dover last fall but finished a misleading 7th. Although it’s a good result, it’s an asterisk mark result. In the race I subjectively thought he had the best car as reflected in our member exclusive PROS Rankings. In the race he led 90 laps and was driving away from the field until he got a speeding penalty under green that dropped him back to 16th in a race that had few cautions.
