Dover NASCAR Practice #1 Notes

Chase Elliott – Started the session in race trim. Focused on getting his balance better this session. Working on making himself better on exit. Ran a lot of laps in race trim. Didn’t go to qualifying trim until about 15 minutes remaining. Following his first run in qualifying trim he said the speed was there but his lap was kind of ugly.

Kevin Harvick – Crew chief Rodney Childers thought his car looked smooth and other cars looked twitchy.

Matt Kenseth – Focused on qualifying trim exclusively this session. Went to the top of the speed chart early. His fastest lap set for the session was his last lap.

Kyle Larson – Started practice in race trim and made a 12 lap run. Jeff Gordon thought his car looked good over the bumps and on landing.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. – Pleased with his balance overall. Had some minor contact with the wall. Happy with his car but said it could be a better in an interview. Said he’s been working a lot on the simulator lately.
