Pocono NASCAR Practice #1 Notes

Dale Earnhardt Jr. – On Sunday Dale Earnhardt Jr. will start in the rear of the field. 25 minutes into practice he broke his engine. Following his opening 5 lap run in race trim he said he under drove his car and he could go quicker. NOTE, at DraftKings he will be scored from where he qualifies.

Martin Truex Jr. – Had a steering box issue in the first third of practice. Felt like his balance was close. Missed a ton of track time as his team changed his power steering pump. After it was fixed and he was up to speed he said his steering felt sloppy.

Kyle Busch – His crew chief, back tire changer and  back tire carrier are suspended this week. Worked on qualifying trim exclusively this session. His interim crew chief was his crew chief one race last year when Adam Stevens was suspended. Was quick in qualifying trim.

Kyle Larson – Feels like he has a lot of speed but his car wasn’t driving good. Said he was really loose in race trim. Jumped up to the top of the speed chart late in qualifying trim.

Darrell Wallace – This is the first time he’s ever been in a Cup car. He will replace Aric Almirola as long as he’s out. Reported that his car is comfortable but is a bit tight. Wanted some help in the tunnel turn midway thru practice. Went to qualifying trim 50 minutes into practice.
