Watkins Glen Fantasy NASCAR Confidence Ranking Picks
1) Kyle Busch
Start 1st / DraftKings $10,300 / Yahoo A
Watkins Glen Fantasy Outlook – Kyle Busch is a super-elite performer at Watkins Glen who’ll be tough to beat. He’s won here twice, and performance wise he’s been good enough to win here about 5 times. Since 2006 he’s only once finished outside the top ten. Last year Busch was 2nd place good but finished 6th after having trouble during late restarts. In 2015 he finished 2nd. In 2014 he had all sorts of problems and finished 40th. In 2013 he led 29 laps and raced his way to victory lane. In 2012 he should’ve won but finished 7th after getting spun out while leading on the last lap. In that race he led 43 laps. In 2011 he led 49 of the 92 laps and finished 3rd. Earlier this year at Sonoma Busch finished 5th.
2) Martin Truex Jr.
Start 3rd / DraftKings $10,500 / Yahoo A
Watkins Glen Fantasy Outlook – Martin Truex Jr. will be tough to beat at Watkins Glen. Earlier this year at Sonoma, the other road course on the schedule he was the class of the field until he had problems under his hood. Over long runs nobody was faster than him. At Watkins Glen Truex Jr. has been strong. Since 2011 minus 2015 when he had problems he has a 7.4 average finish and has had a result in the top 13 every race. Last year Truex Jr. was running in 2nd place when the finish line was in sight but he got spun and ended up finishing 7th. In 2015 he was top five good but had a flat tire while running in 3rd with 22 laps to go which led to his 25th place finish. In 2014 when he had a down year he finished 13th. In the three Watkins Glen races prior to that he finished 3rd, 4th and 10th.
3) Brad Keselowski
Start 10th / DraftKings $9,800 / Yahoo A
Watkins Glen Fantasy Outlook – Brad Keselowski is one of the best default fantasy picks at Watkins Glen. Since 2011 minus 2014 he has a 3.2 average finish and a 6.4 average running position. In 5 of those 6 races he finished in the top 3. Last year I would argue he had the best car but problems during late restarts caused him to finish 3rd. Before his first late restart problem he was the leader. Additionally in the race he earned the best driver rating and led the most laps (28). In 2015 he finished 7th, had an 8th place average running position and led 27 laps. In 2014 he was top ten good but had brake issues that sent him to the garage that led to his 35th place finish. In the three Watkins Glen races prior to that he finished 2nd.
