Michigan NASCAR Happy Hour Practice Notes
Jimmie Johnson – Got into the wall hard 17 minutes into practice and will be going to a backup car. He will start in the rear of the field and be scored from 22nd. Johnson said he got into turn 1 and had no grip and lost it. Never completed a lap this session.
Kasey Kahne – Got into the wall 25 minutes into practice. He will be going to a backup car and start in the rear of the field. He will be scored from the 23rd place starting position. Prior to his problems his car was a little tight starting off during a run. 15 minutes into practice after completing 14 laps he ranked 12th on the speed charts.
Ricky Stenhouse Jr. – Slapped the wall early in practice. His team fixed his car and he was able to return to the track. During his first run back he said he was too loose. With 15 minutes remaining he was 25th on the speed chart. At the end of the session the team tweeted that his car is too loose and they don’t want to take any more chances.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. – Had very good speed. 5 minutes into practice he reported that his car was tighter than it was earlier in the day. After practice #1 he tweeted that his liked his car.
Michael McDowell – Said his car was a little on the edge early. Said he was having to move the trackbar down too far to get it to where it needs to be. 40 minutes into practice he said, “A little bit too free… Yeah, just a little too free.” At the time of those comments he was 22nd.
