Kansas NASCAR Practice #1 Notes

Drivers who were in race trim the entire session: Martin Truex Jr., Daniel Suarez, Jimmie Johnson, Kyle Busch, Matt Kenseth, Kevin Harvick, Austin Dillon and Ryan Newman.

Denny Hamlin – Started in race trim. His crew chief was concerned about the weather tomorrow. Just looking for a solid run this weekend because of his points cushion. 30 minutes into practice he said, “It doesn’t turn very good through the center, especially on max load. I definitely don’t think it’s sustainable.”

Jamie McMurray – Said his car feels pretty good. Is optimistic heading into the weekend because of how he ran this spring.

Chase Elliott – Ran 20 laps in race trim. Among Playoff drivers that was easily the most.

Aric Almirola – During his first run he was loose and said his splitter was high. Said the wind today was affecting his car. Thinks he has a top 15 car.
