Martinsville Fantasy NASCAR Mid Pack Predictions
Aric Almirola – Martinsville is a good track for Aric Almirola. If you’re looking for a driver who can be a low double digits to high-teens driver he fits the bill. Since 2015 minus a spring 2016 engine failure he’s finished in the top 18 every race. Over that stretch minus his engine failure he has a 15.3 average finish and an 18.5 average running position. This spring he started 18th and finished 18th. I think it’s clear he was a high-teens driver because his average running position was 19th. Last fall at Martinsville he typically ran between the high-teens and the low-twenties, but at the end he rallied to finish 15th. In spring 2016 he looked about 20th place good but finished 40th after he had engine problems. In his 8 Martinsville races prior to that he had a 13.6 average finish. In 2015 he had respectable results of 12th and 16th. (Yahoo B Driver)

Chris Buescher – Chris Buescher snuck in a good finish this spring at Martinsville and finished 11th. Additionally he had an 18th place average running position and earned the 20th best driver rating. He closed out strong and was at his best at the end. AJ Allmendinger’s been good here so his improved equipment certainly helped. In his other three Martinsville starts he finished 24th or worse. Last fall Buescher didn’t run well. He finished 27th and had a 30th place average running position. In spring 2016 he ran even worse and finished 33rd. In spring 2015 in a pre-rookie start in the #34 Chris Buescher finished 24th. Paul Menard – Paul Menard has been an OK performer at Martinsville. Over the last seven races he has four results between 8th to 15th, and three results between 19th and 25th. In his last two races here he finished within that bad finish range. This spring he didn’t have a good race. He finished 19th, had a 22nd place average running position and earned the 24th best driver rating. Last year at Martinsville he ran well in the spring which made him a huge disappointment in the fall. In October 2016 he never ran well. When the race reached its conclusion he finished 25th and had a 23rd place average running position. In spring 2016 he had the best Martinsville race of his career. He looked very sporty and even led 10 laps legitimately. When the checkered flag waved he finished 8th, had a 9th place average running position and earned the 9th best driver rating. In 3 of the 4 Martinsville races prior to that he finished between 10th to 15th. (Yahoo B Driver)
