Fantasy NASCAR Asterisk Mark Report – Martinsville
Kyle Larson – Kyle Larson finished 17th this spring but he wasn’t that bad. In the closing laps he had some sort of electrical issue and lost quite a bit of positions. I think he was a top ten contender. His average running position was 11th and with 28 laps to go prior to his problem he was running in 9th.
Jamie McMurray – Jamie McMurray had a good car this spring at Martinsville but finished an asterisk mark 38th. He had top ten potential but on lap 103 he developed a severe tire rub, and then on lap 106 while running in 9th he had a flat tire and careened into the wall hard. Prior to his problem he consistently ran in the top ten and ran as high as 3rd.
Martin Truex Jr. – Martin Truex Jr. had a good car this spring and I think he was top ten good but he finished a misleading 16th. The primary reason for his asterisk mark result can be traced to when he spun with 69 laps to go. He didn’t hit anything, but it did cost him a ton of track position. Prior to his problem he was running around 10th. Additionally he won Stage #1, earned the 6th best driver rating, had a 9th place average running position and led 42 laps.
Ryan Blaney – Ryan Blaney had a really good car this spring but he finished a misleading 25th. In the race he finished 7th in Stage #1, and 5th in Stage #2. With 196 laps to go he had to make an unexpected pit stop for a tire rub. There was no recovering from that.
