Martinsville NASCAR Happy Hour Practice Notes
Erik Jones – On Sunday he’ll be driving a backup car and will start from where he qualifies. Spun 22 minutes into practice and damaged the rear of his car. Didn’t get any track time in practice #1 because of a steering issue. Only ran 15 laps this session.
Austin Dillon – Felt a vibration in his rear brakes that gets worse as he runs. Despite that issue his team felt that they were off to a good start this session. 20 minutes into practice while he was 8th he said, “That’s pretty consistent right there.” Did a 20 lap run late in the session and then went to qualifying trim to close out the session.
Paul Menard – Early in practice his crew chief said, “P14. Lap times looking good.” 40 minutes into practice his team was still said to be happy. Also just a reminder that he’s on “baby watch” this weekend so there’s a slight chance he might not race.

David Ragan – Ten minutes into practice while he was 21st he said, It just starts out too tight.” Otherwise pretty solid.
Kyle Busch – 15 minutes into practice he said the track wasn’t rubbering in as much as anticipated. “Lighter than it was in the test by a decent bit.” Has really good speed.
