Phoenix NASCAR Practice #1 Notes

Kevin Harvick – Was said to be very happy with his car in race trim. Rodney Childers supposedly thought they were back in the ball game.

Brad Keselowski – Started in race trim. Liked his car in that setup. Will be using Ryan Blaney’s qualifying setup.

Denny Hamlin – Started in race trim. Did two runs in race trim to get his car where he wanted it. Typically he’s exclusively in qualifying trim this session. His team knows they need to win the race. Jumped to the top of the speed chart following his first run in qualifying trim.

Chase Elliott – Started in race trim and his first run put him 10th on the speed chart. 10 minutes into practice he said, “It’s getting a little better, but I can’t drive it in as hard as I need to.” Was happy with his car in race trim and qualifying trim. During his third qualifying run he jumped to the top of the speed chart.

Kyle Busch – Appears he was in qualifying trim exclusively.
