Las Vegas NASCAR Practice #1 Notes

William Byron – Tested at Las Vegas earlier this year. He was one of just a few drivers who practiced in race trim. He started with a 4 lap run. Was in race trim so he could establish a good baseline and get comfortable. Said he was a bit loose and not as good over the bumps. Jumped up to 5th during a late run in qualifying trim.

Martin Truex Jr. – Was in qualifying trim the entire session. Felt so good about his setup because of his race in 2017 that his team opted not to test here earlier this year. Thought he gained a lot in the session.

Kyle Larson – Tested here and his team was said to be the class of the field. Was happy with his car during the test. Planned on making 5 mock qualifying runs this session. Climbed to the top of the speed chart 20 minutes into practice.

Chase Elliott – Very fast. Early in the session he climbed to the top of the speed chart in qualifying trim.

Kyle Busch – Going for the triple this weekend (Trucks, Xfintiy and Cup). He said so far he has good speed in his car. Said his car was OK today.
