Auto Club NASCAR Practice #1 Notes

Daniel Suarez – Got hard into the wall 23 minutes into practice. He’ll be going to a back up car and will start in the rear of the field. Over his radio he said he got loose. Never made a lap in his backup car.

Kevin Harvick – His team thinks that a new tire getting used this weekend will be good for him. Just focused on qualifying trim this session. During his first run he jumped to the top of the speed chart.

Kyle Larson – Started with a run in race trim. Was at the top of the speed chart early in that setup. Said his car was good in race trim. He was satisfied with his speed.

Denny Hamlin – Started with a run in race trim that was 12 laps long to get a good feel for his car. Among drivers who ran a good amount of laps in that setup he ranked as the fastest. His team wanted to be able to analyze his car overnight.

Ricky Stenhouse Jr. – Started with a run in race trim that was 9 laps long.
