Texas NASCAR Practice #1 Notes
William Byron – His team changed his engine this session. He’ll have to start in the rear of the field. Spent time in race trim prior to his engine problems. Never made a run in qualifying trim.
Joey Logano – Worked on race trim for about the first half of this session. Started with a 6 lap run in race trim. Following that run he did another short run in race trim. After doing 12 laps in race trim he then went to qualifying trim. Said it was hard to gauge how his car was doing because of the track conditions. No other elite driver spent time in race trim.

Chris Buescher – Ran 10 laps in race trim before going to qualifying trim. Following his time in race trim he said, “That was probably half a bit better…but not enough.”
AJ Allmendinger – Started with a 5 lap run which was likely in race trim. Following that run he said he was tight through turns 3 and 4, tight into turns 1 and 2 and snapping off the corner.
Kurt Busch – Was in qualifying trim exclusively and jumped to the top of the speed chart with about 3 minutes remaining. Ended the session at the top of the speed chart. Said his car is capable of winning the pole. Said he has a good car. Early in practice he said he had no real balance issues.
