Fantasy NASCAR Asterisk Mark Report – Dover
Every week in NASCAR there’s drivers who have problems in the race and walk away with an asterisk mark result. Understanding misleading finishes and knowing how good drivers truly were can help give you the edge on your competition. Many fantasy racers just look at results and assume that’s how good drivers were. This post explains who had a misleading result last fall at Dover, and how good they truly were.
Kevin Harvick – Kevin Harvick was a top five contender last fall at Dover but he finished an asterisk mark 17th. On lap 219 he had a loose wheel and made an unexpected pit stop which dropped him two laps down. Prior to his problem he was running in 6th. It’s clear that if he didn’t have his problem he was poised to have a great afternoon.

Denny Hamlin – Last fall at Dover, Denny Hamlin ran well for much of the race but when the checkered flag waved he finished an asterisk mark 35th. With 28 laps to go while running around the mid-teens his axle broke which marked the end of his race. In the second half of the race he just didn’t seem to be as competitive. In the first two Stages he placed. In Stage #1 he finished 10th and in Stage #2 he finished 6th. In the three Dover races prior to the race last fall he had results of 7th, 8th and 9th.
