Watkins Glen Fantasy NASCAR Front Runner Rankings
Chase Elliott – Chase Elliott should have a solid showing at Watkins Glen. Over the last four road course races he sports a 9.5 average finish, an 11.5 average running position and has finished in the top 13 every race. At Watkins Glen, Elliott has been consistent and has a pair of 13th place results. Last year he ran well but finished a slightly misleading 13th. Late in the race under green he had to come in for a splash of fuel. Additionally, he earned the 7th best driver rating and had a 10th place average running position. In 2016 when he made his Watkins Glen debut he finished 13th, earned the 11th best driver rating and had a 16th place average running position. On Sunday I would look for Elliott to challenge for a top ten finish.

Daniel Suarez – Daniel Suarez had a great Watkins Glen debut in 2017 and on Sunday I think he’ll finish in the low-double digits and compete for a top ten. Last year he drove like a savvy veteran in his first start. When the checkered flag waved he finished 3rd, earned the 3rd best driver rating, had a 6th place average running position and led 14 laps. From the race it should also be noted that he won Stage #2. Last year Joe Gibbs Racing cars were the class of the field. When you include Furniture Row Racing into the mix they finished 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 7th and 10th. At Sonoma, the other road course on the schedule Suarez has results of 15th (2018) and 16th (2017).
Alex Bowman – Don’t overlook Alex Bowman at Watkins Glen. His track record is pitiful, but I wouldn’t even bother to look at it. Right now his team is really clicking off good finishes. Since Sonoma minus Kentucky he’s finished in the top 11 every race and has an 8.6 average finish. Earlier this year at Sonoma, Bowman had a quality performance. He finished 9th, finished 8th in Stage #2 and had a 14th place average running position. On Sunday I would look for him to be a low-double digits driver and I wouldn’t be surprised if he competes for a top ten.
