AJ Allmendinger – This week he’s running with little pressure on himself. Said he couldn’t ask for a better platform in his car. Likes his car early in a run, late in a run was a concern. When practice was over its reported his overall handling is good, just needs a little more everywhere.
Denny Hamlin – Appears to have a pretty good car this week. Ran only 8 laps this session and then he missed the remainder of practice to go through inspection and change his transmission. Slapped the wall and got cosmetic damage.
Erik Jones – Made a qualifying run at the end and jumped to the top of the speed chart. Said his car is good and he’s been happy with it all day. His average speed ranked as the 3rd best.
Michael McDowell – Showed some respectable speed this session. 45 minutes into practice he said “Really good through the bus stop, just a little loose through the S turns.” “Everything feels fine.”
