Darlington NASCAR Practice #1 Notes
Jamie McMurray – Ten minutes into practice his engine blew up after he completed his first lap. On Sunday he’ll have to start in the rear of the field. He’ll be scored from where he qualifies on Saturday.
Kurt Busch – Late in practice while he was 16th he said, “We’re getting sloppy sideways out here.”
William Byron – Showed some very respectable speed over his opening run. 30 minutes into practice following his 2nd run while he was 11th he said he was a little loose off.
Erik Jones – Spun coming to pit road late in practice. He didn’t hit anything. Had good speed and ended the session 6th.
Ty Dillon – 25 minutes into practice while he was 20th of 31 cars he said, “I feel pretty good in Turns 3 & 4. I think we need to work on the back end to help get through 1 & 2.” 35 minutes into practice he said, “We’re close. It just need a couple of adjustments.” Following his last run he said, “I learned a little bit there.”
