Indianapolis Race Notes

Kyle Busch who started on the pole selected to start in the outside lane. He led the opening 71 laps.

8 laps into the race Kyle Busch had a 2.5 second lead over second place Martin Truex Jr.

Big Moment: On lap 10, Corey LaJoie hit the wall hard and brought out the first caution. During this caution it rained and the red flag came out.

Big Moment: On lap 23, Chase Elliott was down a cylinder. Three laps earlier he was running in 11th. He said he had smoke in his cockpit. His lap times were about 6 seconds slow.

During the competition caution (Lap ~30), Denny Hamlin had a long pit stop to repair some damage to his nose. It dropped him back to the 30’s. He ran into the back of Ryan Newman on pit road.

On lap 41, Kyle Busch said he had a little bit of a vibration.

During the Stage #1 caution, Kyle Busch really liked his car. It was mentioned that he led the last 400 miles at Indy.

Big Moment: On lap 56, David Ragan wrecked. JJ Yeley and Jeffrey Earnhardt damaged their cars. David Ragan was done for the day.

During the “Ragan caution”, Blaney, Kesleowski and Menard used pit strategy and pitted. Essentially everyone else stayed out.
