Richmond NASCAR Happy Hour Practice Notes
Jimmie Johnson – Supposedly he felt his car was only OK in practice #1. Made a 33 lap run this session. Following that run Chad Knaus told Johnson that his car wasn’t very fast. Jeff Burton didn’t like how Johnson looked this session.
Brad Keselowski – Started in qualifying trim and his opening run put him at the top of the speed chart. Went back to race trim following his opening run. Has a fast car and his average speed ranked as the 4th best.

Denny Hamlin – Missed the first +30 minutes. Didn’t like his car in the first practice session so his team made massive changes.
Regan Smith – Ten minutes into practice while he was 28th he said tightness in the middle was his biggest challenge. 35 minutes into practice he said, “I think it’s a better direction there but I just can’t get it to roll still. Wedge seemed to help the middle, but I need a ton of help on exit when I hit the throttle.” Ended the session 34th and his final comments were “Very loose everywhere.”
Kyle Busch – Lots of people in the garage were supposedly saying that since he was so strong in practice #1 he’ll be the driver to beat. Has a great car.
