Richmond NASCAR Practice #1 Notes

Kyle Busch – Started in race trim with a 20 lap run. Had really good speed. His opening run put him at the top of the speed chart. He ended the session there. Jeff Burton thought he looked good.

Chase Elliott – Following his opening run which had him 21st he said his handling was pretty manageable. Late in practice when he went to qualifying trim he jumped up to 15th.

Regan Smith – Near the start of practice he said, “Ridiculously loose here. There was no drive or side bite.” 30 minutes into practice while he was 34th he said, “Middle’s tight, but I’m so loose late off the corners… I just continue to have no side bite.” 30 minutes into practice he told his team so far its felt like he’s been running on 50 lap tires, at that time he only completed 15 laps. Never really seemed happy with his car.

David Ragan – Following his opening ten lap run which put him 25th he reported that his car feels “pretty balanced.” A late mock qualifying run jumped him up to 12th.

AJ Allmendinger – Ten minutes into practice while he was 4th he said his car was “pretty awesome.”Had the 2nd best average speed.
