Dover 2 Post Practice Fantasy NASCAR Predictions
Unfortunate weather kept this weekend’s Gander Outdoors 400 at Dover International Speedway from going off without a hitch, but the good news is is that the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series teams were able to get some track time both on Friday and Saturday. They got the pre-qualifying practice session in on Friday (with all cars in qualifying trim), and then an extended Happy Hour practice on Saturday (in race trim) after the morning session was cancelled due to heavy mist. A popup shower on Friday rained out qualifying so the field for Sunday’s race will be set by owner points.
Per the rule book, Kyle Busch is on the pole this weekend with Kevin Harvick starting 2nd. The full starting lineup for the Gander Outdoors 400 at Dover can be found by clicking here. Saturday’s lone practice session are the only speeds really worth considering this weekend, but keep in mind that the track will be considerably hotter (and slicker) on Sunday. You can see those speeds and our in-depth notes for that session here: Speeds – Notes.

Final Top 25 Rankings for Dover 2
1. Kevin Harvick – Starts 2nd – DraftKings Price: $12,100 – FanDuel Price: $14,500
**Risk Factor: Low Risk**
Kevin Harvick has a really good car at Dover yet again, and it’s the best according to Kyle Larson. Yes, Kyle Larson, the same guy that blew everyone else out of the water in the lone practice session here on Saturday. The #4 Ford obviously wasn’t too shabby, though, as Harvick posted the 10th-fastest lap overall and also had the 4th-best ten-lap average. He also topped the overall average speed chart in that session. Looking at Sunday, I’m expecting the #4 Ford to take the lead early and lead a bunch of laps, but I think it’s going to be fun once Kyle Larson and his #42 Chevrolet can get up there and battle. My only concern with Harvick is his pit crew: one mistake at Dover can ruin your day, and the #4 crew hasn’t exactly been flawless this year. Still, this team dominated the race here at Dover back in May, and Harvick has won two of the last six races overall at The Monster Mile.
2. Kyle Larson – Starts 10th – DraftKings Price: $10,200 – FanDuel Price: $12,600
**Risk Factor: Low Risk**
Kyle Larson was probably pretty upset that qualifying got rained out on Friday, as he had the fastest car in the opening practice of the weekend (and was a full tenth faster than Kevin Harvick to boot). And in practice on Saturday, the speed was still there, as the #42 Chevrolet was P1 in both fastest lap speed and ten-lap average. As far as track history goes, this is one of Kyle’s best venues on the circuit. He owns a career average finish of 8.1 here (over nine total starts), and although he’s never been to victory lane at The Monster Mile, the win is coming eventually. Larson started on the pole but led zero laps and finished 10th here back in May, but in last year’s two Dover races he led a combined 378 laps and finished 2nd and 5th. Overall, Larson has four top 5s (44.4%) and eight top 11s (88.9%) at Dover. He’s a great Fantasy NASCAR pick in all formats this weekend.
3. Chase Elliott – Starts 9th – DraftKings Price: $9,900 – FanDuel Price: $11,400
**Risk Factor: Low Risk**
I’m expecting a very strong showing out of Chase Elliott on Sunday (obviously). Not only does he have the best average finish here at Dover of anyone in the Cup Series garage (5th, over 5 total starts), but this #9 team is running really, really well as of late. Also, let’s not forget that Chase led 138 of the 400 laps in this event one year ago before ultimately finishing 2nd to Kyle Busch. As far as this weekend goes, though, Elliott is kind of going a little under the radar, as he didn’t jump off the charts during the practice session on Saturday. Still, Chase had the 5th-fastest lap overall and ranked 9th in ten-lap average, so it’s not like he was slow by any means. Momentum-wise, this #9 team has finished 6th or better in four of the last six Cup Series races overall, and Elliott has posted a single-digit finish in eight of the last ten. I’m expecting
