Michael McDowell started in the rear of the field because of an unapproved adjustment.
Gray Gaulding started in the rear of the field because of an inspection infraction.

Before the Green Flag Waved it was mentioned that Clint Bowyer felt he had the best car he’s ever had at Martinsville.
Martin Truex Jr. who started on the pole selected to start in the high-line. He led the opening 4 laps.
On Lap 5, Kyle Busch took the lead. He then led the next 22 laps.

Denny Hamlin’s car was really strong early. On lap 20 he moved up to second. On lap 27 he took the lead and led 107 of the next 108 laps (didn’t lead one during the competition caution).
Martin Truex Jr. was falling back early. On lap 34 he was back to 5th.

On lap 40 it was reported that Austin Dillon was having radio problems. When the competition caution came out his team did two pit stops to fix the problem.

Following the completion of lap 50 the competition caution came out.
Big Moment: On lap 66, Bubba Wallace had a flat tire and came to pit road. Shortly before his problem he was running around 18th. This dropped him 2 laps down back to last (38th). Later it was revealed he broke his sway bar connector.
