Texas NASCAR Happy Hour Practice Notes
Kevin Harvick – Was extremely fast at the start of practice. Early in practice I thought his car was clearly the fastest over his opening +20 lap run. His team only did small changes. Had the second best 15 lap average.
Martin Truex Jr. – Had good speed over his opening long run. His car was a little too tight. Was a little off “Speed wise” compared to the #4 and #18. They were struggling in turns 3 and 4. Near the end of practice he asked his crew chief if they had more time for another run.
Kyle Busch – Had good speed over his opening long run. His team only did small changes. Had the best 15 lap average.

Ryan Newman – Ten minutes into practice while he was 12th he said his entry is more stable this session. 35 minutes into practice while he was 23rd after running 20 laps he said his car was way too tight in turns 1 and 2 still. At the end of practice while he was 24th he said, “We still have a bunch of work to do.”
Regan Smith – Ten minutes into practice while he was 24th he said, “That’s the best I’ve been into 1 all weekend. Everything is more consistent and we’re making gains, but we need to keep working on it” 25 minutes into practice he said, “I don’t like anything that we just did there. More challenges to get through at both ends of the racetrack with that.”
