Race Notes
Ryan Newman who started in 2nd in the outside lane led the opening 17 laps. Kyle Busch who won the pole selected the inside line. Prior to the race, Newman told the broadcast booth commenters he had a great car.
Early in the race, Alex Bowman was flying around the track running the high-line. He started 18th and on lap 8 he was up to 7th.

Truex Jr. who started 35th was up to 11th on lap 15
On lap 18, Kyle Busch took the lead.
On lap 21, Kevin Harvick took the lead for the first time. His car was the class of the field over long runs. He ran the low-line.
On lap 23 while running back in 25th, Chase Elliott wasn’t happy with his car. He had a “brake shake.”

Big Moment: On lap 80, Newman got into the wall and then made an unexpected pit stop. He was running in 12th just prior to pitting. Newman had short run speed but over long runs his car faded.
On lap 83, Jimmie Johnson got lapped

Notable Moment: During the Stage #1 pit stop, Harvick had a slow stop that dropped him from the lead back to 6th. Then under the caution he came in for a second pit stop to make sure his lugnuts were tight. It dropped him down to 19th, the last car on the lead lap.
Notable Moment: During Stage #1 pit stops Ryan Blaney was penalized when his crew went over the wall too soon. Erik Jones and Alex Bowman also got penalties.

Notable Moment: On lap 159 Jimmie Johnson spun and brought out the caution. He was running in 19th, one lap down at the time. His tire was shredded which did a pretty good amount of damage to his car.
Notable Moment: During the Jimmie Johnson caution, Martin Truex Jr. had a slow pit stop which dropped him to the rear of the field. Prior to his slow stop he was running around 5th. His tire changer had problems.
Stage #2 Top Ten Finishers (Lap 170): 2,41,18,22,4,11,42,10,14,19
Notable Moment: Austin Dillon had a lengthy pit stop during the Stage #2 caution to repair a hole in his nose. It dropped him to the tail end of the lead lap. Prior to his problem he was running just outside the top ten.
