Martinsville NASCAR Practice #1 Notes

William Byron – Got into the wall hard in the opening minutes of practice. He had a cut tire. His team is repairing his car. He only completed two laps this session.

Corey LaJoie – 15 minutes into practice while he was 27th he said, “Got a right front chatter. That’s really my only complaint.” Got into the wall hard 20 minutes into practice. LaJoie said his brakes went to the floor. He’ll be going to a backup car and will start in the rear of the field. Wasn’t very optimistic about the quality of his backup car.

Clint Bowyer – Appears to have a great car this weekend. Ten minutes into practice in race trim he was at the top of the speed chart. During a late run in qualifying trim he jumped back up to the top of the speed chart. Said his car is pretty fast.

Ricky Stenhouse Jr. – 35 minutes into practice while he was 29th he said his handling got better but he needs a bit more speed.

Martin Truex Jr. – Ended the session 4th. Said his car felt good, had good balance and has good speed.
