Texas Fantasy NASCAR Mid Pack Predictions
Chris Buescher – Texas is Chris Buescher’s home track and on Sunday if you pick him I would look for him to be a high-teens to low-twenties driver. This year at 1.5 mile tracks he’s shown potential. He finished 9th at Atlanta and at Las Vegas he finished 18th. I’ll note, Las Vegas has a higher level of correlation. At Texas, Buescher has been finishing in the low-twenties frequently in recent races. In 4 of the last 5 he’s finished between 21st and 23rd. Last fall he was a low-twenties driver. He finished 23rd, earned the 23rd best driver rating and had a 19th place average running position. What makes that even more notable is that he started in the rear of the field. Last spring at Texas he walked away with a 15th place finish. Also in the race he earned the 17th best driver rating and had a 17th place average running position. In 2017, Buescher was a low-twenties driver in both events. He finished 22nd in the fall and 21st in the spring.

Daniel Hemric – This year at 1.5 mile tracks, rookie Daniel Hemric has two results in the twenties. Between the two, Las Vegas has a higher level of correlation to Texas and at that venue he finished 23rd and had a 22nd place average running position. I’ll note at Atlanta he was a top ten contender until he had problems. At Texas I would look for him to likely be a high-teens driver to low-twenties driver. Last year in the lower series he finished 3rd and 10th.
Ryan Preece – This year at 1.5 mile tracks we’ve seen Preece be really good, and we’ve seen be blah. Las Vegas is the 1.5 mile track visited that’s the most similar to Texas and at that venue he finished 25th and had a 26th place average running position. At Atlanta, the other intermediate track visited this year he legitimately had top ten potential but a pit road accident led to a miserable result. At Texas, Preece has a prior start in 2015 (finished 36th), but I wouldn’t put any stock in that. This weekend I’ll approach picking him with caution and view him as a high-teens to low-twenties driver.
