Fantasy NASCAR Asterisk Mark Report – Richmond
Joey Logano – Joey Logano finished 14th last fall at Richmond, but that’s a slightly misleading result. During green flag pit stops around lap 270 he had a tire violation and had to serve a drive through penalty. Later, with about 75 laps to go he was burned by a caution during the pit cycle. In both Stage #1 and Stage #2 he finished 10th. Prior to his problems starting he was running around 8th. Joey Logano’s problems last fall ended his Richmond nine race top ten streak.
Kurt Busch – Kurt Busch finished 18th last fall at Richmond, but that’s a misleading result. With about 75 laps to go a caution came out during the pit cycle which burned him. In the race he finished 4th in Stage #1, finished just short of the top ten in Stage #2 and was running just outside the top ten until he was burned by the caution during the pit cycle.
Denny Hamlin – Denny Hamlin didn’t have a smooth race last fall at Richmond. He was nearly spun out on lap 53 which led to an unexpected pit stop and then with about 75 laps to go he was burned by a caution during the pit cycle. Realistically I thought he was high-single digits to low-double digits good if his race would’ve been incident free. In the six Richmond races prior to that Hamlin finished in the top 6.
Ryan Blaney – Ryan Blaney didn’t have a great car last fall at Richmond, but I think he was marginally better than his 19th place result. With about 75 laps to go he was burned by a caution during the pit cycle which came out after he pitted. Realistically I think he was mid-teens good.
