Richmond NASCAR Practice #1 Notes

Kyle Busch – His car was very fast at the start of the session and he had good speed late into a run. Started with a 21 lap run which had him 4th on the speed chart. Has a great car and his team was doing fine tuning.

Jimmie Johnson – 5 minutes into practice while he was 23rd he said, “Hitting the side skirts pretty hard – tight in, loose off.” 20 minutes into practice while he was 28th it was reported his car needs more grip.

Kevin Harvick – Has a fast car this weekend and was good over long runs. Started with a 28 lap run. Happy with his car. He was parked for the final 30 minutes this session as a penalty resulting from last week.

Kyle Larson – His opening 11 lap run put him at the top of the speed chart. He supposedly feels good about his car. Made a mock qualifying run.

Ty Dillon – Ten minutes into practice while he was 15th he said, “This thing is really good right there. I’m going through the corner so good. Little free on entry, but I’m so good in the middle that I don’t want to mess it up.” 25 minutes into practice he said, “Too tight in the middle right there.” 40 minutes into practice he said, “Better there, but still too tight in the middle. My drive seems a lot better, but the middle is too tight.”
