Dover NASCAR Practice #1 Notes

NOTE: In this session teams mainly focused on qualifying trim.

Chris Buescher – Following his second run while he was in race trim he said changes helped the handling of his car, especially coming off the corner. He ran 12 laps in race trim. Not many drivers spent time in race trim. He then went to qualifying trim.

Alex Bowman – His opening run put him 3rd on the speed chart. 25 minutes into practice he reported his car is “a little edgy and free” in the turns. Said his car is really good.

Kurt Busch – 35 minutes into practice he jumped to the top of the speed chart. Following his run he said, “Good job boys.” Very happy with his car.

Austin Dillon – 25 minutes into practice while he was 22nd he said, “Don’t touch it, there’s a lot more in it. I just have to get more comfortable.”

Chase Elliott – His opening run in qualifying trim put him 3rd. Following his run he reported the handling of his car is “Pretty decent.”

Jimmie Johnson – Feels good about his car and likes his balance. 45 minutes into practice while he was 8th he said, “Pretty good.”
