Asterisk Mark Report – Charlotte
Kevin Harvick – Last summer at Charlotte, Kevin Harvick had one of the best cars, but when you look at his 40th place finish you would never know it. In the race he started in the back but had no trouble working his way up through the field. Unfortunately his race wasn’t incident free and on lap 82 while he was in 4th he blew a right front tire and crashed into the wall hard which marked the end of his race. If his race would’ve been incident free there’s a great chance he would’ve been in the mix for the win.
Erik Jones – Erik Jones was a top ten contender last spring at Charlotte, but his race wasn’t incident free and he finished a misleading 19th. In the race he finished 10th in Stage #1, 10th in Stage #2 and 2nd in Stage #3. During Stage #3 pit stops he had some sort of issue and then with 44 laps to go he had an uncontrolled tire penalty that dropped him a lap down from the mid-teens to 23rd.
Ryan Blaney – Ryan Blaney was a top ten contender last year at Charlotte but he finished a misleading 36th after having engine problems. On lap 184 while he was running in 6th engine issues started to develop and he was down a cylinder. That later led to his engine exploding into a fireball on lap 278. In Stage #1 prior to his problem he finished 2nd.
