Michigan NASCAR Practice #1 Notes

Jimmie Johnson – Following his first run which put him 20th he reported he was very loose but he learned some things. 35 minutes into practice while he was 26th he reported the handling of his car is better on the straightaways but he was loose in the corners. 40 minutes into practice he jumped up to 12th.

Ryan Newman – Started with a 13 lap run that put him 13th. 35 minutes into practice while he was 14th he reported he was too tight. He ended the session 19th.

Michael McDowell – In the opening minutes of practice he said, “Chattering the right front through 3 and 4. I have to lift.” Didn’t have a lot of speed and ended the session in 30th.

Corey LaJoie – In the opening minutes of practice he said, “On the splitter and the rear end has a lot of swing to it.” Near the end of practice he said, “Just tight in traffic.”

Austin Dillon – Following his first run which put him 11th he said his car is fast but tight off the wall. He ended the session 3rd.
