Kyle Larson who won the pole led the opening 2 laps.
On lap 2, Erik Jones had contact with Michael McDowell in turn 11. Jones had a little bit of damage from contact.
On lap 3, Martin Truex Jr. who started in 2nd took the lead. He then led the next 20 laps. Martin Truex Jr.’s strength was being good over long runs.

Late in Stage #1 Kyle Busch was dropping back quite a few of positions. On lap 21 he was back to 15th.
Late in Stage #1 a ton of drivers came to pit road. The top ten in Stage #1 all didn’t pit. Martin Truex Jr. who did pit was the highest running driver who pitted and he finished 11th in Stage #1.

Notable Moment: On lap 60 it was mentioned that Ryan Blaney’s car was puffing smoke at some places around the track. He was falling back rapidly. It was speculated to be a power steering issue.

Notable Moment: With 48 laps to go it was mentioned that Ty Dillon was off pace. His car was stuck in gear. Just prior to his problem he was running in 19th.

With 40 laps to go while running in the teens, Brad Keselowski wasn’t happy with his car and said it wouldn’t turn.
During his pit stop with 38 laps to go, it was mentioned that Joey Logano wasn’t the happiest with his car. He was having wheel hopping issues at times. Prior to pitting he was in 9th.
With about 38 laps to go Kevin Harvick pitted from the lead. Martin Truex Jr.’s team baited them to pit by radio communication trickery. This pit strategy proved huge in the outcome of the race because it was beneficial for Truex.

With 30 laps to go Martin Truex Jr. came to pit road. He was now able to drive hard until the end. Everybody else had to pit again.
