Fantasy NASCAR Asterisk Mark Report – Sonoma
Ryan Blaney – Ryan Blaney had a good car last summer at Sonoma, but he finished an asterisk mark 34th. I wouldn’t read into that result. On lap 60 he started having power steering problems and then rapidly fell back in the field. Towards the end of the race his problem was so bad his team did pit stops just so he could rest, because his hands were cramping up. Prior to his problem he spent some time in the top ten, and if his race would’ve been incident free he may have very well finished in the top ten. In 2017 he finished 9th here.
Ty Dillon – Ty Dillon finished 33rd at Sonoma last year, but that’s an asterisk mark result. With 48 laps to go while he was running in 19th his engine was stuck in gear and he was off pace. Based on how he performed prior to his problem he likely would’ve finished around 20th if his race was incident free.
Joey Logano – Joey Logano finished 19th last summer at Sonoma, but he was better than his result. His average running position was 13th and realistically I thought he was low-double digits good, but he fell back quite a bit near the end.
