Sonoma NASCAR Practice #1 Notes

Austin Dillon – About an hour into practice he got into a tire barrier and his team had to do some repairs. He didn’t show a lot of speed and at that time he was 33rd on the speed chart. 70 minutes into practice he said, “That change was better. I need a little more of it.”

Michael McDowell – Following his opening run which put him 12th he said overall he’s really happy with his car. An hour into practice while he was still 12th he said, “I thought the drive was a lot better.” He ended the session in 5th. Said his car has been pretty fast. Said his car is pretty balanced.

Chris Buescher – His car had pretty good speed. 50 minutes into practice he was 14th. An hour into practice it was reported changes made his car better. He said, “Turning left is really good, still needing help through the right-hand turns.” During a late run in qualifying trim he jumped up to 3rd.

Bubba Wallace – Early in practice he did some off-roading. He didn’t hit anything. He ended the session in 31st.

Ross Chastain – Didn’t practice today. Kyle Weatherman practiced his car and will qualifying it on Saturday. Ross Chastain will start in the rear since it will be viewed as driver change.
