Chicagoland Fantasy NASCAR Mid Pack Predictions
Daniel Hemric – At Chicagoland, I would look for Daniel Hemric to be a high-teens to low-twenties driver. This year in 4 of the 5 races held at tracks of this length he’s finished between 18th to 23rd. I think a similar result should likely be expected again. Last year at Chicagoland in the lower series he finished 5th. I will note his recent results of 12th (Michigan), 13th (Pocono) and 15th (Sonoma) are encouraging. Perhaps those good finishes are a sign that his team is turning the corner.

David Ragan – Among low-tier drivers, David Ragan has a good amount of upside. I’m not talking about a lot, but he has managed to finish in the mid-teens in 2 of the 5 races at 1.5 mile tracks this year. At the most recent 1.5 mile track visited he finished 15th (Charlotte). To play it safe on Sunday I would view him as a low to mid-twenties driver. At Chicagoland, Ragan hasn’t had success in a long time and in the last three races he’s finished 29th or worse. Last year he broke his axle during the first round of pit stops and that doomed him to his 38th place result. In the two races prior to that he had results of 29th and 35th.
Matt DiBenedetto – Matt DiBenedetto hasn’t shown any real upside at 1.5 mile tracks this year so its best to keep expectations low for him this weekend. This year in his three incident free races at tracks of this length he’s finished between 21st and 26th. At Chicagoland, I think there’s a good chance he’ll finish around that range again. At Chicagoland, DiBenedetto has finished between 29th to 31st in his last three races. Last year he finished 29th.
Ryan Preece – Look for Ryan Preece to be a low to mid-twenties driver at Chicagoland. That’s basically his level of performance at high-speed intermediate tracks this year. I will note Atlanta is the most similar track visited and he was a legitimate top ten contender there, but it was early in the season and that can lead to misleading information. He certainly never backed up that performance at any race since.
