Fantasy NASCAR Asterisk Mark Report – Chicagoland
Aric Almirola – Last year at Chicagoland, you won’t find a more misleading result than Aric Almirola’s 25th place finish. It’s important to note that’s an asterisk mark result. “Performance Wise”, Almirola ranked among the best, but he couldn’t overcome two unscheduled pit stops for loose wheels. In the race he won Stage #1, led 70 laps but on lap 142 while he was leading he came to pit road because of a loose wheel. He battled back, but later while he was running in 11th with 47 laps to go he pitted again because of another loose wheel. If his race would’ve been incident free then I think he likely would’ve been a top five contender.
Ryan Blaney – Ryan Blaney had a great car last year at Chicagoland, but he finished a misleading 18th. From the race I’ll note he finished 7th in Stage #1, 5th in Stage #2, but unfortunately during the final segment on lap 194 he made an unscheduled pit stop which dropped him a lap down. Shortly before his problem he was running just outside the top ten.
Austin Dillon – Austin Dillon didn’t have a great car last year at Chicagoland, but he wasn’t 37th place bad. On lap 190 while he was running around the high-teens his brakes were on fire and he came to pit road. He never left pit road after that and it marked the end of his race.
