Chicagoland NASCAR Practice #1 Notes

Kevin Harvick – His car looked pretty racy at the start of the session. He showed good speed over his opening 10 lap run. Dale Earnhardt Jr. thought his car looked great. His opening run put him 2nd. Late in practice he jumped to the top of the speed chart. He ended the session 3rd.

Alex Bowman – Happy with his car. Had the best 5 and 10 lap averages 20 minutes into practice. At that time he said, “It’s still tight a little bit. Turns 3 and 4 aren’t that bad.” Late in practice he was happy with his handling. He mentioned he had a drive train vibration late. Right near the end of practice he jumped to the top of the speed chart during a qualifying run.

Denny Hamlin – Felt like his car was decent in the pack this session. Felt like his speed has been exceptionally good. Did some pit road practice this session.

William Byron – 20 minutes into practice while he was 5th he told his team, “Much better.”

Clint Bowyer – 20 minutes into practice while he was 6th his crew chief said to him, “Real good lap there.”
