Chicagoland Post Practice Fantasy NASCAR Predictions (UPDATED)
As we inch closer to the halfway point of the season, another race at a 1.5-mile track is this weekend with the Camping World 400 at Chicagoland Speedway. We visit Chicagoland once per season and just last year was it was moved back to July after being in September from 2011 to 2017. As far as what to expect, we’ll probably see much of the same as we’ve seen at the other 1.5-milers like Charlotte, Kansas, Texas, and Las Vegas, where it’s very difficult to pass the leader.
Austin Dillon is on the provisional pole for the third time this season and the full starting lineup can be found by clicking here. Please note that there is pre-race inspection scheduled for Sunday morning and any car that fails it, the driver will have his qualifying time disallowed, have to start from the rear, and also be scored from there in Fantasy NASCAR. There were two practice sessions here on Saturday and you can find the speeds here: Practice #1 — Practice #2. You should also read our in-depth notes for those sessions: Practice #1 — Practice #2.

Final Top 25 Fantasy NASCAR Rankings for Chicagoland
1. Martin Truex, Jr. – Starts 18th – DraftKings Price: $10,900 – FanDuel Price: $14,500 – Slingshot Price: $13,100
There’s no reason why Martin Truex, Jr. wouldn’t be considered a contender this weekend at Chicagoland Speedway. Looking at the last eight Cup Series races overall, this #19 team has went to victory lane four times and also have a 3rd-place finish to their credit. Additionally, they’re the last team to win on a 1.5-mile track (Charlotte), and Truex has an average finish of 10th on this track type thus far in 2019–which ranks 8th-best in the series. As far as Chicagoland goes, Truex finished 4th in this race last year after starting way back in 36th, and that followed up back-to-back victories here in 2016 and 2017. This weekend, the #19 Toyota wasn’t great in practice but improved as the sessions went on, ultimately ending up 17th in ten-lap average during the final session on Saturday. It’s kind of scary to say, but it seems like this #19 team is almost fully finding its groove right now–and they already have four wins in the bag this season.
2. Kevin Harvick – Starts 2nd – DraftKings Price: $11,200 – FanDuel Price: $14,000 – Slingshot Price: $12,000
What it’s going to come down to for Kevin Harvick this weekend is whether or not this #4 team can finally catch a break. Looking at Sonoma last weekend, the #4 Ford was awful all weekend, but lo and behold, this team rallied to a 6th-place finish. They are putting fast race cars out every week, and when they don’t, they’re getting them fast before the checkered flag–they just haven’t put it all together for a win yet. In the practice sessions here at Chicagoland on Saturday, the #4 Ford ranked 2nd-best in ten-lap average in the first practice and then P1 on that chart in Happy Hour. So once again Harvick looks to have a great car for Sunday. And looking at the statistics, there’s no reason why he shouldn’t challenge for at least a top 5 finish. In four of the last six Chicagoland races, “Happy” has finished inside that mark, and when we look at the numbers from the 1.5-mile tracks this year (excluding Atlanta), Harvick ranks 2nd in average finish (), 3rd in average running position (), 2nd in DraftKings points scored ( per race), and 1st in DraftKings dominator points ( per race). Chicagoland has always been a great track for Harvick, maybe this is finally the weekend this #4 team gets the monkey off their back.
3. Kyle Busch – Starts 17th – DraftKings Price: $11,500 – FanDuel Price: $15,000 – Slingshot Price: $13,000
Kyle Busch is currently on a four-race streak of top 5 finishes in Cup Series action and there’s really no reason that he shouldn’t make it five in a row after the Camping World 400 here on Sunday. Rowdy is the defending winner of this race and has also finished 9th or better in six of his last seven starts at this track. Looking at this season, Busch has been a menace on the 1.5-mile tracks, finishing 3rd at Las Vegas, 10th at Texas (66 laps led), and 3rd at Charlotte (79 laps led). The only bad race? Kansas, where Kyle finished 30th. Still, Rowdy has the best average driver rating in the series on this track type this season (excluding Atlanta) and will be a threat to win on Sunday. As far as practice goes, Busch was 6th-best in ten-lap average during the final practice session here on Saturday. Yeah, he wasn’t on the top of the speed chart, but there’s still plenty of speed in that #18 Toyota this weekend.
