Daytona 2 Post Practice Fantasy NASCAR Predictions
We’ve officially hit the midway point of the season, as Saturday night’s Coke Zero Sugar 400 at Daytona International Speedway is race #18 of 36 of the 2019 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series year. As is always the case with these superspeedway races, this is the week to make some “outside of the box” picks in Fantasy NASCAR, as literally any driver in the field can end up finishing up front. Still, there are some that are better options than others, depending on the strategy you want to take.
Qualifying was cancelled on Friday and the lineup was set by the rule book so Joey Logano and Kyle Busch will lead the field to the green on Saturday night. The full starting lineup can be found by clicking here. There were two practice sessions here on Thursday and you can find the speeds here: Practice #1 — Practice #2. You should also read our in-depth notes for those sessions: Practice #1 — Practice #2.

Final Top 25 Fantasy NASCAR Rankings for Daytona 2
1. Joey Logano – Starts 1st – DraftKings Price: $10,200 – FanDuel Price: $14,000 – Slingshot Price: $11,900
Joey Logano has only visited victory lane once at Daytona International Speedway, but over the last four or five years he’s consistently been a threat and it’s only a matter of time before he gets his second win at this race track. Over his last nine points-paying starts at Daytona, Joey has finished 6th or better in six of them, although it should be noted that five of those finishes came in the Daytona 500. Still, that kind of consistent finishing at a track like this is noteworthy to say the least. As far as the superspeedways go this season, Logano finished 4th in the Daytona 500 and then came home 4th at Talladega as well. He has an average running position of 9.5 over those two races and that comes in at 2nd-best in the series, while his average finish ranks 1st. Logano has been a fantasy beast this season and there’s no reason to go against him on Saturday night.
2. Kyle Busch – Starts 2nd – DraftKings Price: $11,000 – FanDuel Price: $13,500 – Slingshot Price: $12,000
You can say a lot of drivers are “boom or bust” at the superspeedway tracks, but Kyle Busch brings that to a whole different level. For example, over the last seven Daytona races, Rowdy has finished 3rd or better three times while also posting three finishes outside of the top 20 entirely. His other result during that span was a 20th-place finish. And it’s really been like that for his entire career at this track; Kyle has 28 points-paying starts at Daytona and has eight top 5 finishes (including a win in this race in 2008) along with seven finishes of 31st or worse. The good news is that this #18 Toyota has arguably been the best at the superspeedways in 2019, as Kyle has the best average running position (8.0) at Daytona and Talladega this year and is the only driver to average over 100 when it comes to driver rating in those races (102.8). Finish-wise, he was 2nd in this year’s Daytona 500 and came home 10th at Talladega. As long as Rowdy can stay out of trouble here on Saturday night he should be a threat for the win.
3. Alex Bowman – Starts 9th – DraftKings Price: $8,600 – FanDuel Price: $10,000 – Slingshot Price: $10,400
Can Alex Bowman go back to back this weekend? Honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised. This season on the superspeedway race tracks, the #88 Chevrolet has an average running position of 10th, which is tied for 4th-best in the series with teammate William Byron. Additionally, Alex has an average finish of 6.5 at Daytona and Talladega this year, coming home 11th in this year’s Great American Race and then finishing 2nd at Talladega in April. The Hendrick Chevrolets have had qualifying on lockdown here at Daytona for what seems like the last five years, and lately they’ve had their racing package tuned up to be competitive in the actual race as well. Bowman finished 10th in this race one year ago and hasn’t ended up worse than 17th at Daytona since joining Hendrick Motorsports in 2018. I’m expecting a very strong run out of this #88 Chevrolet and team on Saturday night. Momentum can be a big factor at these superspeedway tracks and Alex Bowman arguably has the most right now.
