The Fantasy NASCAR Low Tier – Kentucky
Bubba Wallace – At Kentucky, I would look for Bubba Wallace to be a mid to high-twenties driver. This year at 1.5 mile tracks over the combined races he has a 25.8 average finish and a 26.0 average running position. Last year at Kentucky, Bubba Wallace didn’t have a good good race. He finished 27th and had a 25th place average running position. In 2017 when he subbed for Almirola he finished 11th. I wouldn’t read into that result.
Corey LaJoie – At Kentucky, I would look for Corey LaJoie to be a mid to high-twenties driver. That’s essentially his level of performance at 1.5 mile tracks this year. Over the six combined races at tracks of this length this year he has a 24.7 average finish and a 27.7 average running position. Last year at Kentucky in his debut, he started 31st and finished 31st.
Ross Chastain – At Kentucky, don’t set the benchmark high for Ross Chastain. I think it’s best to view him as a low-thirties driver. If things go well he has potential to finish marginally better. Last year at Kentucky in his debut the number you need to know about him is 28. He finished 28th, had a 28th place average running position and earned the 28th best driver rating. This year at 1.5 mile tracks, Chastain has finished 29th or worse in 5 of the 6 races. Some good news is that at Chicagoland, the most recent 1.5 mile track visited he had his best result and finished 26th.
Landon Cassill – At Kentucky, look for Landon Cassill to be about a low-thirties driver, and I’ll note he’s somewhat of a risky driver in that range. This year at 1.5 mile tracks his best result is 30th and in two of the last three races at tracks of this length he’s finished 37th. Last year at Kentucky, he had a tough race. He started 33rd and finished 33rd. In the two races prior to that when he was in a more competitive situation he had results of 26th and 29th.
