Fantasy NASCAR Asterisk Mark Report – Kentucky
Alex Bowman – Alex Bowman looked respectable last year at Kentucky, but he finished an asterisk mark 39th. On lap 109 while he was running in 13th he got into the wall hard which marked the end of his race. If his race would’ve been incident free I’m going to speculate he likely had mid-teens potential.
Kyle Larson – Kyle Larson finished 9th last year at Kentucky, but I thought he was better than his result. Self-inflicted mistakes really held him back. In the race he missed driver intros which made him give up his 18th place starting position and forced him to start in the rear of the field. He was able to drive up through the field with relative ease. When Stage #1 ended he finished 8th. In Stage #2 he finished 5th. Unfortunately, Larson had more problems later. During a caution around lap 201 he had a long pit stop which dropped him from 5th to the tail end of the lead lap. If his race would’ve been incident free I think he had top five potential.
Ricky Stenhouse Jr. – Last year at Kentucky, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. didn’t have an incident free race and finished a misleading 26th. On lap 25 he had a cut tire and came to pit road. Just prior to his early problem he was running in 15th and that dropped him two laps down which made for a long evening.
